Awards & Press

(Above): Pitmaster Tony Longobardi, interviewed by the Staten Island Advance, at the NYC BBQ Cookoff circa 2014 regarding his pulled pork. That year he repeated his title as the NYC BBQ Cookoff's Peoples Choice Champion, including a 1st place finish in chicken with his "Championship Chicken Thighs." He also won the Reserve Grand Champion in the NYC BBQ in the Boroughs Citywide Championship.

Although my journey into the art of low & slow BBQ began long before in my backyard testing various recipes, I entered my 1st BBQ competition in June 2012, winning the title " NYC Battle of the Boro's Citywide Champion". I'd go on to repeat that title in 2013,and simultaneously begin competing on the Kansas City BBQ Society Circuit, where among my accomplishments, my pulled pork won the " NYC BBQ Cookoff's People's Choice Award" 5 years in a row. Throughout this period customers locally began to ask me to cater their parties and events, which I was honored to do, because BBQ is my passion. Now I'm offering my authentic award winning Southern Style "Low & Slow" BBQ to the NY/NJ area. Below are some of the links to my numerous awards & championship titles:

Crowds delight as NYC BBQ Cookoff comes to Historic Richmond Town

People's Choice 2014

"You could put as many flavors as you want in there, but it's really about how you cook it," Anthony Longobardi, of Richmond County Pit Bros., said.

The Island-based catering company says they slow-smoke their pulled pork Southern-style, injecting it with a sweet and savory marinade, then letting the meat sit for nine hours before cooking it over hickory and apple wood.

The menu at Holtermann's includes all of Longobardi's best recipes, as well as a range of sides like beans, cornbread, coleslaw and mac-and-cheese. He opens his smoker there each Thursday starting at 11 a.m., and shuts down when he sells out. Here's a hint: Come Early and be prepared to wait in line. The brisket and pork don't last long.
